May Challenge Check-In!

In a previous post, I shared a few challenges from Mark and Angel Hack Life‘s “30 Challenges for 30 Days of Growth” list to do this month. I must say, so far so good! I’ve been trying to stay aware of these challenges throughout the day and it has almost become second nature at this point.

Get rid of one thing a day for 30 days. - This should be an ongoing challenge for me since I love keeping things (you never know when you’ll need that psychology paper from sophomore year right?). However, since I’m preparing to relocate in the next few months, I’ve gotten a lot better with throwing away or donating things. Especially clothes!

Create something brand new in 30 days or less. – Since I’m a DIYer at heart, this challenge isn’t TOO much of a challenge. I did decide to step out of my usual painting, sculpting, jewelry making bubble and took on sewing! It’s definitely not as easy at it looks but I am getting better. I’m hoping to sew some throw pillows for my future apartment…I just need to find a couch!

Spend 10 minutes every evening reflecting on what went well. - Instead of falling asleep with Netflix or running down my to-do list for the next day, I’ve been more conscious of my thoughts before I go to bed. So I reflect on the day, pray, and its off to dreamland for me. A clear mind definitely does help a person sleep through the night (and wake up feeling rested). This is a challenge that I plan on making a good habit for sure.

Read one chapter of a good book every day. - I’ve been doing very well with this actually. I’ve completed nearly 2 books so far this month — Life Interrupted: Navigating the Unexpected by Priscilla Shirer and finishing Open City by Teju Cole. Next up is The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis (a reread).

Document every day with one photograph and one paragraph. I started off with doing FatMumSlim‘s “May Photo a Day” photo challenge…but that didn’t go past day 8 for me. However, I did take photos each day and created a little caption/description for them.

Well, there’s (less than) 8 more days in this month of May, I’ll be sure to do a final check in at the end of the month…I can’t believe June is right around the corner!

Oh and for those who have been following my blog before…like the new layout? I thought it was a good time to give this blog a little makeover!

ciao.
